Exploring the benefits of second-hand boats

WHY SECOND-HAND BOATS ARE THE BEST OPTION

Do you dream of sailing the high seas, but are worried about the cost of a new boat? Well, fear not. The second hand boats are here to save the day and make your nautical dreams come true. Although buying a new boat may seem like the most obvious choice, there are numerous advantages to opting for a second-hand boat. Not only can you save a significant amount of money, but you also have the opportunity to find a boat with all the features and amenities you want.

The second-hand boats offer a wide range of options, allowing you to choose from different sizes, styles and manufacturers. In addition, second-hand boats usually come with a history of maintenanceThis gives you peace of mind knowing that the boat has been well cared for. So, if you’re ready to set sail without going broke, let’s dive into the world of pre-owned boats and explore why they’re the best choice for any aspiring captain.

Advantages of buying a used boat

Cost savings on the purchase of a second-hand boat

When it comes to buying a boat, cost can be a barrier for many boating enthusiasts. However, opting for a second-hand boat can result in significant savings. New boats tend to command a higher price due to their impeccable condition and the state-of-the-art features they offer.

On the other hand, second-hand boats are usually more affordably priced, allowing you to get a quality boat without having to shell out a large sum of money. This is especially beneficial for those who are just starting out in the world of sailing and wish to try it out before making a more significant investment.

In addition to the lower initial price, used boats can also save you money in other ways. For example, insurance for a second-hand boat is likely to be cheaper than for a new one. In addition, the taxes and fees associated with buying a used boat are also usually lower. In short, buying a used boat allows you to save money on both the initial purchase and the ongoing costs associated with owning a boat.

Wide selection and availability of second-hand boats

One of the biggest advantages of advantages of buying a second-hand boat is the is the
wide selection and availability of boats on the market.
. While new boats are limited to current models and styles, pre-owned boats offer a much greater variety in terms of size, style and manufacturer. You can find boats of all periods and designs, allowing you to choose the one that best suits your needs and preferences.

In addition, the availability of second-hand boats is much higher than that of new boats. While new boats often have waiting lists and may require an extended waiting time before they can be obtained, pre-owned boats are readily available. This is especially beneficial if you are eager to start your adventure on the water and don’t want to wait months to get a new boat. With used boats, you can find one that meets your requirements and be sailing in no time.

Avoiding depreciation with a second-hand boat

Depreciation is an important factor to consider when buying a boat. New boats tend to lose value rapidly in the first few years after purchase. This means that if you decide to sell the boat after a short period of time, you are likely to lose a significant portion of its original value. On the other hand, second-hand boats have already gone through the initial stage of depreciation and their value tends to remain more stable over time.

By opting for a second-hand boat, you can avoid the initial drop in value and potentially recoup more of your investment if you decide to sell later. This makes buying a second-hand boat a more cost-effective option in the long run. Moreover, if you take good care of your second-hand boat, you may even be able to sell it for a similar price to what you initially paid, which would allow you to recover your entire investment.

To buying a second-hand boatIf you are buying a boat in good condition, it is important to carry out a thorough inspection to ensure that you are purchasing a boat in good condition. A boat expert will be able to identify any potential problems and give you an accurate assessment of the boat’s condition.

In addition to the initial inspection, it is also important to consider ongoing maintenance of the vessel. Be sure to check the boat’s maintenance history to get an idea of how it has been cared for in the past. If the boat has been well maintained and has received regular maintenance, it is likely to be in top condition. However, if there is little or no maintenance history, you may want to exercise caution and perform a more detailed inspection prior to purchase.

Financing options for used boats

While buying a used boat may be a cheaper option than buying new, you may still need financing to make the purchase. Fortunately, there are financing options available specifically for the purchase of used boats. Banks and financial institutions specializing in boat loans can help you obtain the financing you need.

When shopping for financing options, it is important to compare interest rates and terms offered by different lenders. Make sure you read and fully understand the terms of the loan before you commit. If possible, also consider making a larger down payment to reduce the loan amount needed and lower monthly payments. By taking the time to explore your financing options and finding the best deal available, you can get a loan that fits your needs and allows you to buy the pre-owned boat you want.

Alajuela 38 sold

Alajuela 38 has been sold by Network Yacht Brokers in Port Ginesta

Silver Heels is a 38ft Double-Ended Sloop designed by William Atkin and built as a cruiser in Huntington, the USA. The Alajuela Yacht Corp in the United States made her design. The Alajuela 38 is a recreational keelboat, built predominantly of fibreglass, with wood trim. It has a cutter rig, a spooned raked stem with a teak bowsprit, a canoe transom, a transom-hung rudder controlled by a tiller, and a fixed long keel. The name Atkin has long been associated with the best in seaworthy boats. If you are looking for “the right boat” to build, you will be delighted with the boat design collections of William Atkin. Inherently solid, grand sea-goers and comfortable. The yacht was epoxy treated in June 2021 and stayed out of the water for two months.

The owner says

¨I had a dream to sail the world around. On a clear day, we saw Silver Heels for sale in France. The boat had arrived from California (USA) via New Zealand through the Red Sea into Med. The ship had all the experience and could easily sail worldwide on its long keel. I missed the experience of long-distance sailing. The first owners were glad to sell their boat to us, who intended world cruising. Of course, dreams can change, and due to family circumstances, we did not make a world trip with our two small kids. Instead, we sailed Silver Heels to Belgium and enjoyed sailing the Channel. The Netherlands, France and England for the first ten years. My son and I made a year trip to the Canary Islands and ended up in Barcelona, where we used the boat for family sailing to the Balearics Islands. We loved Silver Heels for over 30 years, but now it is time to let her go to somebody else with a dream to sail the high seas¨.

The yacht comes with 7 sails: the main sail, Genoa and staysail by Lee sails 1998 and a Storm Main, Strom staysail, Gennaker + Spinnaker with are originals.

Winches Lewmar 2 speed 2 x 44
                                          2 x 32

The motor is installed under the bridge deck and cockpit floor.

The motor is splayed to the port hand. The propeller, however, is in the centre of the stern post. The advantage of this arrangement is easy steering when the boat is under power; no pull on the tiller as would be the case with a straight centre-line drive. The engine is an Izuzu 40 HP 3 cylinders fresh water cooling system. Last serviced in 2019 with 4789 engine hours. Shaft drive 18″ fixed 3-blade bronze propeller. The boat is fitted with an inboard diesel engine of 40 hp (30 kW) for docking and manoeuvring. The fuel tank holds 250 L (under the stairs) and the 2 freshwater tanks have a capacity of 190 L each (in the saloon). There is a holding tank of 132 L, but it is not connected and has been used as a spare fuel tank.

Hallberg-Rassy 312 Mk II Yachts Sold

Hallberg-Rassy 312 Mk II sold

The Hallberg-Rassy 312 Mk II was introduced in 1986, becoming one of the finest on the market.

Hallberg-Rassy 312 Mk II recently had been re-equipped and upgraded professionally.
The first noticeable difference is the port lights, which got larger and moved up to the superstructure on today’s Hallberg-Rassy range, which gives a brighter saloon and a more incredible feeling of spaciousness. A new superstructure raised the headroom from 1.83 m to 1.85m. Now includes new teak decks, toe rails, deck hatches, and an improved working area. The original engine was a replacement for a Volvo Penta D1-30 diesel engine. The hull was epoxy-coated, and a new electronics suite was in the cockpit—electric anchor windlass, Side-Power bow thruster, holding tank laminated hardwood to tile. The toilet got separate and not all over the boat’s beam as on the previous model, and added a shower basin into the new toilet compartment. Recent mainsail, new spray-hood.

This Hallberg-Rassy 312 Mk II was a trendy model with over 650 boats produced and still is an incredible yacht capable of blue-water cruising.

This is a magnificent example of the ever-popular HR31. Halberg Rassy is renowned for its ability to build robust boats that sail and handle well. This is as good as they get and with the best specification imaginable. We have plenty of photos – please call,

Pirate Ship for sale

Find a Pirate Ship For Sale? Sure, we have one!

Pirates were never more prevalent than in recent years, as we all followed Jonny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow. One film storyline finds the winds of ill fortune blowing against Jack Sparrow when a deadly ghost pirate Captain Salazar and his mates escape the Devil’s Triangle. They have only one aim and are determined to kill every pirate at sea, including Captain Jack. The only hope for Jack Sparrow is if he is to survive lies in finding the legendary Trident of Poseidon. Not such a simple task? This powerful artefact bestows upon its possessor total control over the seas. Wow, compelling stuff!

Pirate ship for sale Barcelona

We have an authentic replica of Pirate Ship at Network Yacht Brokers Barcelona.

Here are a few famous pirate ships. She is a fake made some years ago as a tourist attraction.

What about real Pirates

You could not find a Pirate Ship For Sale anywhere in the day! They called it the “Golden Age of Piracy,” thousands of so-called pirates, buccaneers, corsairs, and scurvy sea dogs made a living by plundering all ships at sea. Romantic stories of pirates are many. The hard reality is that little has changed in the world. So-called pirates still exist and always will. Pirates will continue on land or at sea, taking from those with the possessions they want.

Were Pirates honourable?

Pirate ship boat for sale in a marinaIt is fair to say Pirates did not disguise ships so much. Perhaps that was more honourable than how a modern-day Pirate can hide behind a computer in a remote location. The reality is the same a modern-day pirate has no interest in rules. They play the game of life to survive with no thought about the suffering of others in the same way barbaric pirates did hundreds of years ago.

Historic Pirates such as Blackbeard, “Black Bart” Roberts, and Captain William Kidd became famous. Their names are synonymous with piracy. But what about the ships they used? Pirate ships became famous used by the men who sailed them.

History records authentic Pirate Ships such as;

Blackbeard’s Queen Anne’s Revenge

Pirate ship for sale below deckThe Queen Anne’s Revenge was a giant pirate ship commanded by Edward “Blackbeard” Teach for about one year in 1717. Initially, she was a French slaving vessel. Blackbeard captured her and made modifications. She became one of the most formidable pirate ships ever. She carried 40 cannons with enough room left for men and loot.

The Ultimate Pirate Ship

Blackbeard often intimidates his victims into surrender. Fights were costly, so this was an economical solution. For months in 1717-18, Blackbeard used the Queen Anne’s Revenge to terrorise shipping in the Atlantic. Blackbeard’s victims rarely put up a fight and handed over their cargoes peacefully between the massive frigate and his fearsome appearance and reputation. He plundered several shipping lanes at will. Unable to defend themselves, Blackbeard was able to blockade the port of Charleston for a whole week in April 1718. He plundered and looted several ships. Eventually, the town gave him a valuable chest of medicines to make him disappear.

Bartholomew Roberts’ Royal Fortune

Wheel Pirate ship for sale BarcelonaBartholomew “Black Bart” Roberts was probably one of the most successful pirates, looting hundreds of ships over three years. He had several flagships during this time. The largest of them was the Royal Fortune. She was a 40-cannon behemoth with a crew of 157 men. The Royal Fortune could slug it out with any Navy ship. Roberts was aboard this when he was killed in battle against the Swallow in February 1722.

Sam Bellamy’s Whydah

In February 1717, the pirate Sam Bellamy captured the Whydah (or Gally). She was a prominent British ship used to transport enslaved people. Bellamy could mount 28 cannons on her and terrorised Atlantic shipping lanes briefly. However, the pirate Whydah did not last long: it was caught up in a horrendous storm off Cape Cod in April 1717, barely two months after Bellamy first captured her. The wreck of the Whydah was discovered in 1984, and thousands of artefacts have been recovered, including the ship’s bell. The ship’s artefacts are on display in a museum in Provincetown, Massachusetts.

If the pirate ships above are unattractive, why not charter your pirate ship? You can hoist the jolly Rodger on any yacht, and you will become a pirate (the kids love it). Why not go out and charter in the Caribbean? Then you will become a real pirate of the Caribbean. (any of the charter companies does not provide plastic swords and guns or the jolly roger flag)
